Katharina Schmid (formerly Althaus) was positive about the upcoming season. The two-time Olympic silver medalist said, “I am satisfied with my preparation and have even slightly improved my performance. I’m also looking forward to the new highlights in the calendar.”

“If I look at last year’s summer, then I’m already further ahead this year,” said the newly married Oberstdorf native, who finished second overall in the World Cup for the third time last winter, at the “Sporthilfe Club of the Best” in southern Italy. Schmid has “once again been able to sort out a few finer points” in her jump and is therefore “quite optimistic” about the coming winter.
She said measurements have shown that her ski angle of attack has improved once again and that she brings the ski much flatter under her body, which should lead to more lift. In addition, she “now also sometimes manages to get away from the table very symmetrically. It’s only a few degrees, but they sometimes make up five to ten meters.”

Special anticipation is developing among the women’s ski jumpers with regard to a new highlight in the competition calendar. For the first time, the so-called “Two Nights Tour” will be held, a kind of half Four Hills Tournament with jumps in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
